Ithihas clinic was established by Sri. A. K Velayudhan Vaidyan who was popularly known as Kochuvelu vaidyan in the year 1935 as a Vaidyashala at Tekke Angadi, Cherthala, Alappuzha District Kerala. But actual history of Ithihas Ayurveda starts long before that. Sri. Velayudhan Vaidyan was born and bought up in a well-known Vaidya family. He had immense knowledge passed from his forefathers. His father was Sri. Kunjan Vaidyan who was well versed in Netra Chikitsa (Eye treatment).
